Set in the racially and politically charged summer of 1963, Bayard Rustin — the historically little-known, but brilliant proponent of non-violent civil disobedience — organizes the unprecedented gathering that would come to be known as the 1963 March on Washington. Exiled from the Civil Rights Movement for living his life as an openly gay man, Rustin struggles to find his place within the Movement, and to find the spiritual redemption he needs to continue his work.
